Jonathan Cooper is in his 5th year as the Director of Bands at J.P. Taravella High School. He is a recent graduate of the Florida State University College of Music with a Bachelor’s in Music Education, magna cum laude. As a student there, Mr. Cooper was a member of the Trumpet Studio, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Swing Machine Jazz Band, and the Marching Chiefs. Further, he has served as a Row Leader and Section Leader for the trumpet section.
Mr. Cooper is a proud alumnus of Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps, marching trumpet in the Summer of 2019 and contributing to a Jim Ott High Brass Award.
Prior to his graduation, Mr. Cooper completed his student teaching internship at Vero Beach High School teaching the concert, jazz, and percussion classes.
Mr. Cooper is a member of FMEA, FBA, NAFME, and an alumnus of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity.
A Tennessee native, Haley moved to Florida in the summer of 2024. She started her color guard journey at Fred J. Page Marching band where she marched in the color guard and served as drum major her junior and senior year.
After high school, Haley marched with Music City Drum and Bugle Corps in 2011 and 2012, Chattanooga Independent in 2013, Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps in 2014, and Lexis World Class Winterguard in 2017 and 2018. Haley also attended and was part of Middle Tennessee State University’s pre-professional dance company. She graduated in 2016 with a minor in dance.
Haley’s teaching career began at White House High School in White House, TN. She then went on to teach at her alma mater Fred J. Page, winning 3 State Championships during her time there. She has also taught at Adamsville High School, Giles County High School, Independence High School and several additional high schools in the Middle and West Tennessee areas. She was also a visual technician at Spirit of Atlanta in the summer of 2016.
In her spare time, she loves to be with her fiancé, Alex, their daughter, Channing and puppy, Kofi.
